Rocker Joe Cocker Selling his Mad Dog Ranch in Colorado

British rock star Joe Cocker has put his Crawford, Colorado ranch on the market. After calling it home for the past twenty years, Cocker and his wife, Pam, are parting ways with the immaculate “Mad Dog Ranch” in favor of a more modest abode in the same community. The ranch has been listed for $7.85 million furnished or $7 million otherwise.

After becoming widely known for his raspy voice and signature guitar miming, Cocker moved to Santa Barbara, California. He and his wife purchased the land in Crawford in 1992 with the intent of building a small winter retreat. This grew into a greater project, however, and after employing local craftspeople to build the dream home and surrounding amenities, the two moved from California to Colorado and have called it home ever since.

After spending the past four decades in the limelight, the ranch was a welcome getaway for Cocker. With several resort destinations and outdoor activities within the surrounding area, the adjacent West Elk Wilderness, and the small-town feel of Crawford, the ranch provides a breathtaking serenity while still possessing access to the untamed nature of western Colorado.

The 243-acre escape has the potential to be a functioning ranch, and it includes a corral, horseback riding areas, a barn with room for seven horses, water rights, and multiple greenhouses and gardens that Cocker used to grow tomatoes. Along with these, the ranch includes luxurious landscaping, including a pond and wildlife domain.

The European style house on the property boasts seven bedrooms, six full and three half baths, a library, a music room, and a terrace looking out toward the West Elk mountains. The designer kitchen, sun room, and game room provide plenty of excuses to entertain, as Cocker was fond of doing in his time living at Mad Dog. And at 15,873 square feet, lack of space is not a problem.
